Your first task
You create a task, place it, and watch it find its spot on the board.
Create it
- Click New task on the right above the board. If the button says "Quick capture", choose "New task" from the arrow next to it.
- Enter a title, for example "Write the quote for Meyer".
- Under "Properties" choose the effort: 15 min, 30 min, 1 h, 1.5 h or a custom value.
- Click Create or press Enter in the title.
The task is on the board now. Without a date and without stars it carries little weight and sits far down.
Place it
Click the tile. The sidebar shows the four things Aevo sorts by:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Deadline | The binding date. The closer it gets, the higher the task sits. After it has passed, the task keeps rising. |
| Work on | Your plan, not an appointment. Until that day the task sits further down; on the day it moves up. You can always start earlier. |
| Priority | Zero to three stars. More stars lift the task, whatever else puts it at the top. |
| Effort | How long it takes. Sets the size of the tile and whether the task still fits into today. |
"Work on" can never be later than the deadline. If you set a deadline before the planned day, Aevo pulls the plan forward to the deadline and tells you.
Tick it off
Click the circle left of the title. The task leaves the board and is listed under Completed from now on. You can reopen it there.
If the task has open subtasks, Aevo asks whether to complete them as well.
You delete a task for good in the sidebar. Right afterwards, undo brings it back.
Try it
- Create a task "Test task" with 30 minutes of effort. Note where it sits.
- Set "Work on" to today. It moves up.
- Set the deadline to tomorrow. It moves up further.
- Change the effort to 2 hours. The tile grows; its place in the order stays.
- Tick it off and reopen it under "Completed".
