Put something off
"Not now" can mean four things. Aevo has a separate way for each. This page shows which one to take when. The reasons behind them are under Four kinds of "not now".
| You mean | You use |
|---|---|
| "I'll do that next week." | Work on |
| "It cannot be done before then." | Work on with "Not earlier" |
| "It depends on someone else." | Pause |
| "I won't manage it today after all." | Postpone |
Plan it for later
- Open the task.
- Set Work on to the day you want to start.
Until then the task sits quietly further down. On the day itself it moves up. You can start earlier at any time.
Set a fixed start
For tasks that cannot be done before: the form is only available on the first, the shop is closed until Monday.
- Set Work on to the earliest day.
- Click Not earlier next to the date in the sidebar.
Until that day the task sits at the very bottom and does not count towards daily capacity. After that it counts in full again.
Pause
For everything that is waiting and has no date.
- Open the task.
- Click Pause in the sidebar.
The tile now says "PAUSED" and sits at the very bottom. It stays visible and is not deleted. "Paused, resume" brings it back.
Postpone
For when you had planned something and did not get to it.
- Open the task.
- Click Postpone next to "Work on".
- Choose "+1 day", "+2 days" or "Pick a new date…".
Aevo sets "Work on" anew and counts the postponement. The deadline stays. The tile then shows how often it was postponed, for example "Postponed 2x".
Good to know
- Only the "Postpone" button counts. If you change the date by hand because the plan really changed, that is not counted.
- Nothing can be postponed beyond the deadline. Aevo then says: "Move the deadline first."
- From the third postponement the tile gets a yellow frame.
- After several postponements Aevo asks: "Task still relevant?" You can keep and postpone it, or delete it.
