Shorthand and shortcuts

Quick capture shorthand

In quick capture certain words become properties and leave the title. Everything else stays in the title.

You type Becomes Examples
goal: at the start a goal instead of a task goal: Half marathon
#name the project whose name starts with it #web for "Website Relaunch"
!, !!, !!! one to three stars !!
number with m, min or h effort 15m, 45min, 1h, 1.5h, 1h30
day in words Work on today, tomorrow, friday
date Work on 12.10., 12.10.26, 12.10.2026
@ and a short form Work on @fri, @mon, @12.10
\ in front of a word stays text \#12, \tomorrow

An example:

Quote Meyer #web !! 45m friday

gives the task "Quote Meyer" in the project that starts with "web", with two stars, 45 minutes of effort and "Work on" next Friday.

Details:

  • Dates are written day first, then month: 12.10. is the 12th of October.
  • A weekday always means the next one. "friday", typed on a Friday, is the Friday of the following week.
  • A date without a year that has already passed means next year.
  • #name only applies when exactly one project matches. With several matches Aevo suggests them.
  • If a property appears twice in the line, the last one wins.
  • The German words work too: ziel:, heute, morgen, freitag.
  • There is no shorthand for the deadline. You set it in the sidebar or in the form.
