Capacity
The ranking says what comes first. Capacity says how far you get.
Daily capacity is part of Pro.
Free time
Aevo calculates like this:
- Your working hours today, from now until the end of work. If the working day has not started yet, it counts from the start time.
- Minus the events still ahead in that remainder.
- What is left is your free time.
Free time shrinks by itself as the day goes on. On a day that is not a work day it is zero.
What fits
Aevo walks down the ranking from the top and places tasks into the free time for as long as it lasts. What fits gets an outline on the board. The "Today" button shows the total, for example seven tasks in 4 hours 20 minutes.
The rules:
- Paused tasks and tasks with "Not earlier" in the future are skipped.
- Tasks without effort are not counted. They get no outline, because Aevo does not know how long they take.
- For tasks with subtasks the next step counts, not the sum. Twenty hours of work do not block the day if the next step takes one hour.
- If a task no longer fits, Aevo looks further down for a smaller one that still does.
There is nothing to confirm. The outline keeps recalculating.
Tentative events
An event you only accepted tentatively can take up time or not. You set that under Settings › Calendars. Switched off, it appears hatched in the timeline and does not count.
Velocity
Four free hours rarely turn into four hours of finished work. There are calls, breaks and tasks that take longer than expected.
Velocity measures that ratio from what you actually tick off. For each day Aevo compares the effort of the completed tasks with the free time. From that comes a value over the last weeks, in which the most recent week counts the most.
If you switch on Let the board use it in Insights, free time is multiplied by this value. The timeline then shows both: "4 h free, realistically 2 h 50".
Three limits:
- The value only applies after five days with completed tasks. Until then the board uses the full free time.
- Only tasks with an effort count.
- The value is capped at both ends. An outlier says more about missing efforts than about your day.
Day plan and capacity
Both answer the same question in two ways. Daily capacity calculates by itself and follows the ranking. In the day plan you place tasks between your events by hand. You can use both, or just one.
Try it
- Give five tasks an effort.
- Switch on daily capacity with "Today" and count the tiles inside the outline.
- Remove the effort from one task inside the outline. It drops out, and another one moves in.
- Pause a task inside the outline. The same happens.
