Plan the day

The board says what matters. The day plan is for the days when you want to set the order yourself: events are fixed, tasks go into the gaps.

Today is part of Free. Tomorrow and the days after are part of Pro.

Plan tasks in

  1. Open the Day plan on the left.
  2. You see the day from start of work to end of work, with your events as fixed blocks. Next to it is the Backlog: your open tasks.
  3. Drag a task from the backlog to a free spot.

The backlog can be sorted by importance, effort or deadline.

How the plan calculates

A planned task gets no clock time. What is stored is its place in the order. From that follows:

  • The plan moves with the clock. If you are running late, the tasks close up behind "Now".
  • If a task does not fully fit in front of an event, it continues after it: "before the event, the rest after".
  • A task without effort has no length. It stands at its place and pushes nothing away.
  • A task with subtasks is planned as a whole. With "Show subtasks" you drag single steps instead.

The plan shows the balance: "1 h 20 still free before the day ends" or "40 min too much for today".

What no longer fits

What does not fit before the end of work is listed under This no longer fits today. Those tasks stay on the board. You can plan them for tomorrow, or take them out of the plan with "Back to the backlog".

Breaks and events

  • Break: choose a length and drag it onto the plan.
  • An event you are not attending: choose "Not attending: free up this time" on the event. The time then counts as free. "Treat as a fixed event again" undoes that.

Plan tomorrow

Part of Pro.

Plan tomorrow or the arrows "Next day" and "Previous day" change the day. That way you decide in the evening what the next day starts with.

The timeline above the board

The timeline shows the same day in one row: events as blocks, free time on the right. Click an event for its details. The arrows change the day. The button on the right sets the range: full day, working hours or a custom range.

Good to know

  • The day plan changes nothing about the ranking on the board. It is a second view for today.
  • Day plan, list and insights can be hidden under Settings › Features.
